Power100 followed owner of Roof Hustlers, Dashaun Bryant, for an entire day leading up to his stage time segment at RoofCON 2024 where he delivered a powerful speech to establisedh and aspiring roof sales leaders
Power100, the only unbiased third-party platform that ranks the best CEOs and partners in the home improvement industry using a proprietary 5-layer ranking system, covered Dashaun Bryant, CEO of Roof Hustlers, as he delivered a game-changing presentation at RoofCON in Orlando. Bryant’s standing-room-only session focused on helping roofing professionals overcome the amateur mindset and commit to becoming true professionals in the industry.
Dashaun Bryant’s journey in the roofing industry is nothing short of remarkable. As a professional door-to-door salesman for six years and a coach and trainer for the last four years, Bryant has sold over 650 roofs in just three years and earned the title of “Biggest Hustler” for both 2020 and 2021. His vision extends far beyond personal success—he aims to change the dynamic of the roofing industry by teaching others how to create genuine customer connections, build better customer relationships, and provide premier customer service one homeowner at a time.
The inspiration for Roof Hustlers came after Bryant watched several Grant Cardone videos, where Cardone explained that every industry has a gap, and if you can fill that gap, you’ll make a lot of money. Bryant recognized the training gap in the roofing industry and decided to fill it, creating a platform that has now trained over 80 sales professionals since 2020.
At RoofCON, Bryant delivered a powerful message about the difference between amateur and professional mindsets in the roofing industry. “The amateur is dedicated to instant gratification,” Bryant explained during his presentation. “You come in the game, you kill the game immediately, and then you get on this high. You know this high where you like, man, this easy. And then you hit that slump. And then you like, hey boss, can I get some guaranteed pay? Because you ain’t ready for that. The pros are dedicated to the long-term grind. The pros got that long-term vision. So I always like to let every new sales rep know, when you get into this industry, be dedicated for it at least two years”.
Bryant’s energetic presentation style left a lasting impression on attendees. “So I was going through the airport the other day. Lady said, how you doing? I said, I’m amazing. She said, why your life so amazing? I said, because I woke up today,” Bryant shared with the audience, demonstrating his infectious positivity and energy.
He challenged contractors to shift from competing to dominating their markets. “We don’t want to compete with our competitors. We want to show up and if you run an appointment, that ain’t no opportunity for your competitors to even get an opportunity,” Bryant emphasized. He concluded his message with a powerful call to action: “You got to make this decision to go pro. Will you outperform the competition on a consistent level all the time? So from this day moving forward, I just want y’all to give up y’all amateur dreams and I want you to make a decision to go pro because like I said, only the pros going to withstand the time”.
Diego Dante, President of RoofCON, shared his excitement about bringing Bryant back to the main stage. “I was super stoked to get to invite Dashaun to come in and speak on our stage today. One of the reasons why is I actually gave him a call to speak at Roofcon 2020, the first time he ever got on a stage and it was a good full circle moment to get him to come in and then speak on the big main stage,” Dante explained.
Dante highlighted Bryant’s growth and impact over the years: “We’ve seen him grow over the years and his content has grown and he not only the content but also the impact that he’s had on the roofing industry. And people want to come out and they want to see Deshawn. They want to be able to see what, you know, they want they just feel the energy and they know that he’s on fire. Every time he gets on that stage, he gets people stoked about roofing and that’s what we’re all about. But not only that, he also makes people leave an impact around the world around them and become better leaders”.
Dwayne Yoder, Owner of Momentum Roofing and Exteriors in Ohio, attended Bryant’s breakout session and was deeply moved by the experience. “This is the first time I’ve actually got to see him on stage. I’ve seen him quite a bit of the YouTube videos and things like that and thought, God, if I could bottle the energy in this guy, I’d be it, it’s crazy,” Yoder shared.
Yoder identified accountability as a key takeaway from Bryant’s presentation: “One of the biggest things that I picked up from this was obviously the accountability issue. I think there are so many companies out there that kind of like he referred to. It’s just you walk in, you walk out, what the jobs are is what they are. You know, trying to get that accountability put in place is for me as an owner, going to be one of the most vital things, especially as I grow and bring on additional sales reps”.
With a company motto of “rebuilding dreams one home at a time,” Yoder is focused on bringing on new sales representatives who share Bryant’s fire and passion for helping homeowners during their weakest moments.
Angelo Saia, Managing Partner of Roman’s Roofing in Indiana, has been following Bryant for six years and has hired him multiple times for coaching. “I started following him on social media when I first got into the industry six years ago. This past year we ended up getting him to come and do a coaching for our company. He’s a motivating guy. Like he gives good content and it’s only helped our team, so we love him,” Saia explained.
When asked if he would hire Bryant again, Saia’s response was immediate: “Oh, we already are. We had him out in March, we’re bringing him back in 2025 because it’s higher level, but at a level that I feel encompasses all of our bases. It doesn’t matter if you’re a first day door knocker or you’re someone that—and for me, I’ve been all over the industry. I was a canvasser, I worked at outside supply. Now I’m part owner of a company. And he speaks to me from when I was a canvasser to me being at this level”.
The results speak for themselves. Roman’s Roofing has experienced explosive growth, going from struggling to hit a million dollars to being on pace to hit 15 million in revenue. “Before you hired Deshaun, what was your revenue at? We didn’t even hit a million dollars. We got to seven and a half million from May of last year to the end of the year. And now this year we’re on pace to hit the 15,” Saia shared proudly.
Brandon Laverdure, President of FamilyFirst Roofing, was impressed by Bryant’s direct approach to the amateur versus professional mindset. “I got to say I’m pretty impressed with his speech and how he’s talking about being amateur and pro and he nailed it. He killed it because there’s a lot of people that want to sell roofs but they’re weak or they get one paycheck and they think they can retire. And they fall backwards,” Laverdure explained.
He emphasized the importance of Bryant’s message about daily self-improvement: “Getting to the level to level up and become a professional and a pro is what he says is very key. You always have to groom yourself every day and be the best person you can be. I don’t think he missed a beat with that at all. Talking to yourself or talking within yourself is very big too. I love his speech and the guidance that he gave for people to try to level up about themselves, 100%”.
Chris Stinton, CEO of Honest Exteriors in Minnesota, attended the presentation and was captivated by Bryant’s dynamic energy and practical advice. The standing-room-only breakout session drew more attendees than any other session at the conference, demonstrating Bryant’s drawing power and influence in the industry.
Beyond the stage, Bryant shares his expertise through the Roof Hustlers podcast, where he tackles daily door-to-door objections, rejections, and teaches listeners how to make genuine connections. In his episode on “Mastering Your Contingency,” Bryant provides five essential tips for roofing professionals to close deals more effectively.
“If you ain’t creating genuine customer connections, building better customer relationships, and providing premier customer service, then you know like I know, guys, you ain’t making a difference in your wallet or the community,” Bryant explained on his podcast.
His first tip emphasizes simplification: “It’s your job to simplify the complicated verbage on the contingency. Your homeowners, they don’t want to read all that fine print and all that complicated verbage. So, if you could simplify it, they’ll follow your lead and it’ll make it 10 times easier to close that deal”.
Bryant also stresses the importance of controlling the sales dynamic by never allowing homeowners to fill out paperwork themselves. “While you are filling out the paperwork, this is the perfect time to start building rapport. You use your contingency as a window, a time frame to start connecting with your homeowner. Because when homeowners talk about themselves, they feel really good”.
Additional tips include using non-threatening language, addressing any contract discrepancies upfront to build trust, and always getting paperwork signed before calling the insurance company. “Mastering the basics is what helps you become a high-level elite salesperson. So, when you master and dominate the basics, makes it 10 times easier to start add additional closes to your sales process”.
