The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA) Expo 2025, held at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, celebrated its 75th anniversary with a dynamic two-day event
Schaumburg, IL – The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA) Expo 2025, held at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, celebrated its 75th anniversary with a dynamic two-day event packed with education, innovation, and networking for commercial and residential roofing contractors, builders, remodelers, general contractors, architects, roofing consultants, and their teams.
Power100, the only unbiased third-party platform that ranks the best CEOs and partners in the home improvement industry using a proprietary 5-layer ranking system, captured the event’s impact through interviews, highlighting how it equips attendees to grow their businesses.
The expo featured a bustling floor with manufacturers and suppliers showcasing roofing materials, technologies, and services, alongside sessions on business growth, legal updates, and safety. Greg Cummings, CEO of Power100, roamed the event, interviewing leaders: “I am Greg Cummings, the CEO of Power 100. We are here in Schaumburg, Illinois, for the MRCA 75th annual conference. If you are in the roofing industry and you need to know what is relevant, this is the place to be”.
Since 1949, MRCA has served as the “Contractor’s Advocate,” helping members build businesses through education, resources, and advocacy to manufacturers and regulators. The expo drew professionals eager for fresh ideas: “Networking at events like this is super powerful, above and beyond the educational opportunities you have by meeting some of your providers of the company, distributors, manufacturers, learning about new products and technologies, legal updates and things like that. Shows like this are definitely what help move the industry forward,” said Chris from the event.
Attendees emphasized involvement: “Anytime you can network with other professionals of the industry that you are making your business out of, it’s a benefit. Get on those committees, go to the trade shows, network with all the people that you can”.
U.S. Olympian and former NFL player Johnny Quinn delivered a standing-ovation keynote, sharing his journey from a torn hamstring cutting short his NFL dreams to competing in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics bobsled team. Quinn‘s humorous Olympic bathroom door-breaking story went viral, symbolizing breakthrough resilience: “I just went to take a shower and when I get there, it’s locked”.
He stressed effort and mindset: “When life gets tough, and it does for all of us, I’ve got some tools and some frameworks that I learned in the NFL and the Olympics that transition flawlessly into the marketplace”. Key takeaways included overcoming adversity, the power of words to uplift, and avoiding comparison: “Our words can give life or our words can set a forest on fire”.
Quinn engaged the audience: “Do you bring an effort level every day that matches the direction we’re trying to go?” He urged healthy contentment: “A healthy form of contentment finds a way to get the job done with the current resources available”.
In an exclusive interview with Cummings, Quinn bridged athletics to business: “In my time in professional football and the Olympics, it transcends that teamwork into the marketplace. When we have everyone on the same page and we’re going in the right direction, we can actually go so much further together. Do you believe in the mission and the vision? When we get everybody, not just on the bus, but in the right seat, that’s when you start to do fantastic things”.
On handling doubters: “Diagnose the problem. Maybe it’s miscommunication where the leader thinks they’re being heard, but they’re not. Or show the incentive—be clear on what the accomplishment looks like and the end reward”. Quinn is excited for 2026: “All the speaking engagements I have lined up to take what I learned at the elite level in athletics, transfer that into business, and equip leaders with tools they can start using today”.
Alex Lindus, CEO of ContractorFlow, a top CRM for contractors, praised the expo: “It’s just an awesome show to attend. The energy’s awesome. Last night the events that they have, super fun. A bunch of contractors getting together and rubbing elbows—it’s great energy. I love it”.
ContractorFlow simplifies workflows for roofing and exteriors pros, managing leads, sales, projects, and more. Lindus shared 2026 plans: “We are hitting the ground running. We’re putting our name out there. You’re going to start seeing us at all these events. That’s what we’re most excited about is to start letting the construction world know that ContractorFlow exists”. Cummings endorsed: “It’s the best CRM that I’ve seen. Blown away when I drove it”.
Dane Durante from InsureChex, which reviews competitors’ policies to win more jobs, traveled from the West Coast: “87% of roofers aren’t properly covered. It’s a great opportunity for those who are spending all this money on proper insurance to get more roofs under their belt. Inform your clients about the five other bids they’re getting—send us their policy, and we can show them they’re either covered or not”. For 2026: “The market’s looking pretty good… There’s a lot of stuff going on that’s crazy in the world, but also some awesome things like technological investments”.
Naomi Dupre from Brava Roof Tile, makers of durable synthetic slate, shake, and Spanish tiles with 50-year warranties, connected with contractors on the expo floor. Brava offers fire-rated, impact-resistant alternatives to natural materials, ideal for harsh weather.
Reflecting on the expo, Cummings said: “We just wrapped up an incredible event in Chicago for the MRCA. What they delivered for their members on every scale, bringing in the right partners, the right speakers, including Johnny Quinn, legendary sports star, Olympian. Shout out to the MRCA for putting on a great conference. On top of it, it was their 75th anniversary. They did it right. If you are in this area and you are a roofer, you might want to check out being a part of their association”.
The event fostered exponential growth through aligned teams, tools like ContractorFlow, and innovations from partners.
5. How did the MRCA Expo support contractors’ long-term growth?
Attendees highlighted that beyond product demos, the MRCA Expo delivered powerful networking and education that move the industry forward. Contractors gained access to legal updates, safety best practices, and technology insights, while also building relationships with peers, distributors, and manufacturers. Greg Cummings closed by urging roofers in the region to consider joining MRCA, noting that aligned associations, strong partners, and events like this create exponential growth opportunities for forward-thinking companies.
